The Annis Elegy RH-5 is a legendary performance car that has been widely coveted by car enthusiasts around the world no doubt about it. But did you know that one of the most iconic Elegy RH-5s in the world was originally a criminal's car? 

Back in the late 1990s, this particular RH-5 was owned by a notorious street racer and underworld figure in Japan. He had heavily used the car for high-speed pursuits and had used it to evade the police on multiple occasions. However, in 2001, the criminal's luck ran out when he was caught in a high-speed chase by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. The Elegy RH-5 was seized and impounded, and the criminal was sentenced to several years in prison.

But rather than being scrapped or auctioned off, the Japanese police saw potential in the heavily modified car. They decided to convert it into a high-speed interceptor for their own use. Over the next few years, the car was extensively modified and upgraded by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. They fitted it with all the latest police equipment, including lights, sirens, and a high-tech communication system of th early 2000s.

The car was also given a major performance overhaul, with its engine, transmission, suspension, and brakes all upgraded to handle high-speed pursuits. After several years of service, the car was retired from active duty and was scheduled to be scrapped. However, its incredible history caught the attention of Ash Wolfe, the founder of Horsepower GT. Tokyo saw this as a beneficial car during it's use so instead of not getting another vehicle of it's kind, They upgraded to the little brother of the RH-5, The Elegy RH-7 R-Type S2.

Ash was able to secure the RH-5 and bring it over to the United States, where he gave it a full restoration and brought it back to its former glory as a personal project. Today, the Horsepower GT Tokyo Metro Police Elegy RH-5 is a true icon of the Horsepower GT collection, a testament to the incredible performance and engineering of Japanese sports cars, and a reminder of the car's extensive, interesting & juicy history.
